The Regional Culture Centre in Częstochowa has been an institution of the self-government of Silesian Voivodeship since 1999.
Its previous activity as the Voivodeship Culture Centre began in 1975.
The mission of the Centre is to support culture popularization, national heritage protection and to promote most important values, both within contemporary art and traditional culture.
The Centre conducts various activities, including animation, artistic, educational, promotional and informative. It actively cooperates with local communities responding to cultural needs. It also inspires new projects in the field of culture, as well as offers substance support to local artists and bands. The Centre remains also in partnership relations with institutions of culture and self-government units, artistic institutions, non-governmental organizations, schools and universities, as well as other organizations of culture within the region and country.
The Institution has its permanent exposition at the ART-FOTO gallery, where it presents photographs of Polish and foreign artists,
as well as debutants. It presents achievements of photographic community in the Silesia region. The Gallery specializes in digital creation of a photographic picture as well as in photography from travels.
The Regional Culture Centre also organized artistic and literary projects of long-term tradition. The biggest International Digital Photo Competition CYBERFOTO and the International Folklore Meetings "Z daleka i bliska" have a huge prestige in Europe.
A significant achievement is International Poetic Competition named after Halina Poświatowska.
The Centre also conducts cultural activities within: studio photography, reports, acoustic support of events, sound recording,
rent of video recording room along with the stage and multimedia equipment.
To honour the up to date achievements of the Regional Culture Centre in Częstochowa it was awarded, among others:
- a special award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (2010)
- Gold Honour Award "for Services for the Silesian Voivodeship" (2010)
